Catalyzing Finance and Policy Solutions – ACCREU team contributes to the Asia-Pacific Climate Report 2024

Asia and the Pacific are home to some of the world’s most climate-sensitive economies. Alongside this vulnerability, the region’s rapid economic growth, which has lifted millions from poverty, also accounts for over half of global greenhouse gas emissions. As climate challenges intensify, this region stands at the forefront of both the escalating impacts and the potential for transformative solutions.

Several scientists from within the ACCREU project consortium contributed to the Asia–Pacific Climate Report: an initiative by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) which aims to help Asia and the Pacific tackle climate change through targeted policy reforms. This inaugural report provides a thorough analysis of the region’s shifting climate landscape, addressing issues such as the rising frequency and intensity of heatwaves, alongside the increasing economic and social costs. It highlights the urgent need for adaptation strategies and stresses the importance of mobilizing resources to protect the region’s most vulnerable communities.

Here is a list of the ACCREU researchers contributing to the Report: Francesco Bosello – ACCREU Project Coordinator (consultant), Lorenza Campagnolo (consultant), Gabriele Mansi (consultant),  Paul Watkiss (consultant).
