Stakeholders
Similarly to its predecessor COACCH, ACCREU project has a key aim to co-develop its research programme in close cooperation with stakeholders. The aim of this process is to identify policy solutions that are relevant to decision makers, and to tailor the results and communication strategy to stakeholders’ needs and interests.
ACCREU is therefore developing a structured co-design and co-production process for stakeholder engagement that will ensure that decision makers and users of research are involved, while their needs are documented. This will encourage stakeholders to develop a stronger sense of ownership of, and access to, the process and the final results.
The project has identified four groups (or clusters) of actors with interests in similar decisions. These are:
- Policy makers. This focuses on policy and decision makers, and predominantly involves public sector stakeholders in government at different levels from EU to municipal.
- Finance and investment. This focuses on those organisations that are involved in major investment (such as infrastructure) that could be affected by climate change. It includes also European banks as well as insurance and finance organisations.
- Business. This focuses on private sector stakeholders, focusing on companies at different aggregation levels that might have a strong interest in climate impacts and adaptation.
- Research and NGOs. This focuses on research organisations at different levels and boundary organisations. It also includes the civil society with non-governmental organisations.
ACCREU is also working across three aggregation levels, recognising that stakeholders will have different needs. These are:
- Pan-European level stakeholders;
- National level stakeholders;
- Local level stakeholders
