ACCREU provides estimates for the 2023 Adaptation Finance Gap & the Global Stocktake

The ACCREU project provided key inputs to the UNEP2023 Adaptation Gap Report  on the global costs of adaptation.  This analysis drew on ACCREU experts and models and estimated that the costs of adaptation are in a plausible central range of US$215–387 billion/year for developing countries this decade. These values were compared to the current international public adaptation finance flows to developing countries to estimate the new adaptation finance gap.

The detailed analysis, including the sectoral assessment,  is written up in a separate 2023 Adaptation Finance Gap Update (https://wedocs.unep.org/20.500.11822/43832).

These estimated costs of adaptation from ACCREU and the Gap Report were cited in the UNFCCC COP28 Draft decision /CMA.5 on the global stocktake (C1, 68).
