On 14–15 April, the ACCREU project team gathered at Deltares (Delft, the Netherlands) for the annual project meeting. In total, 26 persons attended in person and 12 more people joined online. The first day opened with a discussion of Work Package 1 on co-creation, covering two upcoming stakeholder events in Brussels, one on the economics of transformative adaptation and the other a general stakeholder workshop on co-creation in ACCREU. This was followed by presentations from Work Package 2 on the recently completed deliverables on energy systems and air quality impacts under climate change. Work Package 3 discussions centred on economic appraisal at the adaptation strategy level, and specifically on how narrow appraisal frameworks may act as a barrier to more transformative adaptation.
The afternoon was dedicated to the macroeconomic modelling work underway in Work Package 4, with discussions on how WP2 outputs can feed into WP4, collaborative working among the integrated assessment and computed general equilibrium modelling teams on the macroeconomic assessments. The day combined presentations, discussions and break-out activities.
The second day provided time for the modelling teams to work through next steps. And broader discussion of the current ideas for dissemination of the ACCREU modelling and case study results. Draft versions of the scenario explorer and digital handbook of ACCREU, both part of Work Package 5, were presented during the meeting. Moreover, parallel to some of the discussions, interviews were conducted with various project partners on the adaptation case studies that will feed into the digital handbook.
