Report on the ACCREU Annual Project Meeting in Graz

On September 18-19, the ACCREU project team met at University of Graz for its annual project meeting. 35 Persons from each of the consortium partners met in person and 10 more persons joined online. On day 1, the focus was on the new results in Work Package 2, specifically climate change impacts on ecosystems and biodiversity, including the effect of reduced pollination services for agricultural crops. This was followed by presentations on the impacts of climate extremes: flooding, drought, and wildfire and how they affect infrastructure and economic performance. Discussions on WP3 focused on how the results from the 14 case studies on adaptation and the stakeholder workshops can be transferred and upscaled to more universal decision types and thereby inform regions, sectors, and private actors across Europe to implement adaptation at larger scale.

The afternoon of the first day was dedicated to in-depth working sessions between the modeling teams of the consortium. Specifically, the different macroeconomic modeling teams discussed with sectoral modeling teams preliminary results, checked whether climate change impacts and adaptation were implemented appropriately and discussed the next steps of model integration. This working session was continued on day 2, looking specifically into effects on health and labor productivity and the database generated for adaptation costs across sectors and countries.

In the final part of the meeting, the focus was on dissemination and exploration: how data, models and results generated during the project will be made available to different audiences. In particular, the planning of the stakeholder workshop and the final conference was started. During the meeting, also the work on the digital handbook was started by recording videos based on interviews with consortium partners. The workshop was concluded by a joint session with the two sister projects as well as feedback from the advisory board.
