ACCREU’s annual meeting in Bilbao: advancing climate resilience strategies for Europe

The second annual meeting of the ACCREU project, organised by BC3, took place in Bilbao on 16-17 October. The event brought together research partners to discuss the next steps in addressing climate change risks across Europe. The hybrid meeting was attended by approximately 35 participants from 14 partner organisations within the ACCREU consortium. The event provided an opportunity for members to review key project milestones and coordinate plans for 2025.

The meeting marked a significant milestone, with the project now approaching the halfway point (month 18 of 42). A primary objective was to present and discuss an important part of the anticipated results for WP2, which addresses climate change impacts in Europe, in advance of the closure of three deliverable reports.  The reports address three key areas: the impacts of climate change on infrastructures and the built environment (Task 2.1), the consequences and distributional implications for the energy, agriculture, forestry and water sectors in Europe and globally (Task 2.2) and the implications for people’s health and well-being (Task 2.3).

Furthermore, updates were provided on the status of the remaining WP2 tasks, as well as on the progress of the other work packages and their interactions.

The next stage of the ACCREU project will involve further integration of models, particularly between WP2 and WP4, in order to evaluate adaptation costs and benefits. Furthermore, the adaptation decision framework will be applied in a number of European case studies (WP3), and the organisation of co-creation workshops will facilitate stakeholder engagement in the project.
